New Senator
Governor Patterson nominated Kristen Gillibrand to take Hillary's Senate seat. The NY Democratic party is not enamored with her. Why?
Looking at her record-in favor of gun rights, low taxes, and immigration enforcement; against the bailout and homophobia, she looks like my candidate. There are a lot of Goldwater Republicans out there-fiscally conservative, socially tolerant, strong on national defense-who are dissatisfied with the direction the GOP has taken. Democrats like Gillibrand could win a lot of them over. If anything, the Dems should run more people like her.
And if the Dems do try to fight her at the primary in 2010, she should consider switching to the GOP-at least this Republican will welcome her.

Oh What a Circus, Oh What a Show...
I watched the inauguration at my law school.
First, I am very happy to be able to say "Former President George W Bush."
Second, I voted for Obama.
But please don't tell me that I'm the only person a little disturbed to see how people are worshiping Obama. I see commercials for Obama coins, I've heard of Obama China plates, I saw people crying at the inauguration. I'm sorry, but this is just disturbing. He's a man. A politician. He's going to make mistakes. I don't think he'll screw it up as badly as Bush, but he's not infallible.
I just think the country is going to go into a national depression when we find out he doesn't walk on water.

DMCA Phone Unlocking Exemption
The EFF has a petition that they will submit to the copyright office. It will ask that there be a DMCA exemption for unlocking your phone (for example, using an iPhone with someone other than ATT).

Last Semester
Well, I just got done with the first week of my last semester.
Classes are fine, and I'm going to have only 2 final exams. The work is going to be pretty evenly spread out, so I won't have any last minute paper writing to worry about. And I have a three day weekend (at least until I find a job). All in all, it's shaping out to be a good semester.

On the Edge
My books arrived
The beginning of the last semester
I just finished
My last Christmas as a student
On the edge between worker and student-
What comes next?

New Year's Resolution
I've made my New Year's Resolution. Because I will be turning a quarter-century this year, I have resolved to get my financial house in order, following Scott Adam's 9 Point Financial Plan.

Happy New Year!
Happy 2009!
This is going to be a year of lasts for me-my last year of law school, and school in general.
But it will hopefully also be a year of firsts-if I pass the bar, it will be my first year as a lawyer.
2008, at least the latter part, wasn't that good a year (unemployment). Here's hoping 2009 will be better.
