Per Diem Work

I took care of a couple cases from my first per diem client earlier this week. I really hope I get more of that kind of work-unlike many other attorneys, I really don't mind being in court for routing conferences. If nothing else, I can catch up on my reading while I'm waiting for the other attorney to show up and the case to be called, and, since I work per diem (on volume), I don't have any other kind of work to catch up on later in the day, except sending out reports to clients.

Meh

Things are pretty meh with me right now-nothing really good going on, nothing really bad going on. I am getting more hours from the firm I'm of counsel to, and I have even picked up some per diem jobs, so that's good. I just wish that the ABA would stop giving its stamp of approval to outsourcing, so young lawyers could get needed experience. But that's never going to happen: ABA=American Biglaw Association.

Prop 8 Ruling

I'm glad that Prop 8 has been overturned. Whether it stays overturned, however, depends on what Kennedy (I can't imagine this not going to SCOTUS) thinks about it-and I'm not optimistic. He probably wrote the per curiam denying cameras in the courtroom during this, and that could be an indicator of what he thinks about the case/Judge Walker as a whole.
