Law School Application Process

Well, I have begun the law school application process in earnest. I have spent the past couple of afternoons doing basically nothing but law school applications. Some reflections:
-None of the law school websites I read said that many law schools require you write an essay in response to a particular question, and you can't use a generic personal statement. It would have been nice to know this in the summer, during which I thought I finished my personal statements.
-I am applying to some non-Tri-State area schools to be safe, but I really hope I can stay in the New York area. I'm tired of the sticks!
